Generative Fonts

SOSE 2024 · Coopmonday What defines a shape as a letter? What rules are necessary for it to be recognized as such? How can I make a shape more intriguing and unrestricted? How do I harmonize an entire alphabet? I used JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and AI (ChatGPT) to create a versatile Web-to-Print Tool. This tool not only generates fonts but also offers the option to generate posters that utilize these fonts, which can be printed or plotted. To assemble the letters into a cohesive alphabet, I worked with recurring components. I aimed to make each letter interesting, distinct, and free while ensuring it remains recognizable. I was fascinated by the randomness of shapes, but quickly realized that my approach to randomness in the project wasn't as arbitrary as initially thought, as I incorporated specific random ranges and functions.
